all my girls have been in edinburgh for the weekend, so that made me one lonely girl, but they're coming back tonight, so i won't be alone for long. actually, i did have a nice weekend, and i got to stay at co be and matthias's on saturday night after babysitting manuel. and while i did have to cook for myself and eat by myself, i did get to eat red meat since i usually don't cook it for squeamish meredith.

last thursday, went to see arthur miller's "the price," which was good, but i was preoccupied most of the time trying to hold in my coughs. but i must have not been the only one, because at one point, this 90 year-old character came on stage, coughing after apparently climbing up a long staircase, and throughout the audience, people took the opportunity to let their coughs loose and hacked along with him.

happy belated halloween! i didn't do very halloweeny things on friday, besides carve a couple pumpkins and dress in goth-black with kate and meredith. there were some parties going on in the complex, but a bunch of us went out to a club called madame jojo's near tottenham court road. they played kind of disco-funk music, but new stuff, not stuff from the 70s. i didn't even know that people still produced disco-funk. it was fun though, and i love the fact that every club that i've been to has played a different type of music. ministry of sound played standard dance/hiphop/pop, but the other places have played drum & bass, and flamenco music. let's see what the next one will be...

on saturday, with everyone else in scotland, vito, eamonn, and i went to harrod's to people-watch and to play "the price is right." i lost horribly every time, but it was amazing how ridiculously overpriced everything was. this really unattractive antique statue of a boy was 28,500, though i would say the giant 24,000 music box thing that played mascagni's "cavalleria rusticana" off a large silver disc was much cooler. the most expensive item we found was a sculpture for 59,000. crazy.... ooh, and the best things of the day were the donuts that we got from the harrod's krispy kreme as free samples. they were warm and sweet and oh-so-american.

since they don't have thanksgiving here, it's officially the christmas season (though really all the decorations went up in october and i started hearing christmas ads in september). though i'm panicking with the thought of getting gifts for everyone, i can't wait! giving gifts is the best part of christmas. that, and listening to holiday music. it's the holiday season... so whoop-dee-doo, and hickory-dock, and don't forget to hang up your sock....
