"this is for thuy"

funny night....

i went to a restaurant tonight in downtown culver city with the roomies to celebrate my birthday. it was pretty cute, kind of new york lounge-esque, with a performer who sang jazz/blues/r&b. now in reality, it was just a guy with a karaoke machine, but he was sweet and tried to get the audience to participate and everything. of course, rach and mer threatened to tell him that it was my birthday, but i refused to let them do it (i've been subjected to horribly embarrassing tricks like that before). i did, however, allow them to request barry white's "you're the first, the last, my everything," which is probably going to be the second song played at my wedding. when he sang it, he dedicated it to me, and mer made me get up and dance with her in front of the entire restaurant! it was hilarious and mortifying at the same time.

when we left the restaurant, we passed by honey kettle's fried chicken, and rach pointed out that macaulay culkin and mila kunis were sitting in front (i haven't seen any celebrities in three months). the weird thing is that yesterday in the car, i was talking to mer about "home alone" and how it's such a great holiday movie for me. and when we got home, it was on tv! creepy!! anyway, after scoping them out not-too-stealthily, mer offered to pay me a dollar if i would go up to him and say, "you remind me of christmas." needless to say, i had had enough embarrassment for the night, so i didn't take the dare.
