always look on the bright side of your life

a couple nights ago, i came home and heard a hissing in my room. i searched for the source, and it seemed to be coming from the wall in between mine and mer's rooms. the wall felt warm, and i guessed that it was a leaking pipe. the next morning, i called the leasing office, but since it didn't seem to be too bad of a leak, they said they would send someone around on monday to fix it.
but as the day went on, the hissing got louder and the wall got damper and damper. when we had people over to watch the NU v. Michigan game, i tried to ignore it until chris came out of my room, saying, "thuy, what the hell is going on with your wall?? there's water squirting out of it!!" sure enough, water was actually misting out of the wall, so i freaked out and called the emergency hotline for the leasing people, and they sent a guy to check it out. the wall was so wet that he smushed a hole in it with his finger, then punched it and a big square piece of drywall caved in. apparently that part of the wall has been patched before. so the guy put a clamp over the tiny hole in the main line, which will keep it temporarily until they can shut off the water for the entire building and replace the pipe.
so that was a pain in the butt, but it'll get fixed this week, and my mom managed to find the silver lining... she said that water coming into the home is lucky for feng shui. so maybe some good fortune will come my way :) ...
