i want to be forever young
oh my goodness, has it been a month already? i can't believe that i've been living in LA for two months. here's what's been going on...
- work: the runner job has been rough, since i'm the only official runner, there are new people coming in all the time, and there's a flood of clients right now. i did so much lifting and carrying on friday that my hands were shaking when i got home and my arms were numb. a couple new runners should start work in the next few weeks, so hopefully the work load will literally get lighter.
- other work: the deadline for sundance submissions was friday, so we were working like mad to get a cut of the documentary ready in time. we had two test screenings previously, and the movie has been totally recut since then, so even i don't really know what it's like now. but i think it's a fascinating story, and the tone is very fun and playful, so hopefully it'll get into some festival. i'm very lucky to be involved in a project like this, and even luckier actually to be working creatively on it.
- family: last weekend, i went to boulder to meet the family since mv got her condo and we were helping to move her in. it's an awesome place, new and clean and beautiful (stainless steel appliances! a shower head with 6 settings! a hidden spice rack!), and within a couple blocks of pearl street. mv says it's like the best of both worlds, because it looks and feels urban, but there's still fresh air and the mountains outside her window. we did a lot of shopping for the condo, which is always fun (i'm in love with all the chairs at crate and barrel), and i got treated to some good food. after kind of getting thrown into life as an adult in LA, it was nice to be with the fam and to get taken care of for a while.
- friends: basically everyone who was planning on coming to LA has moved here by now. because of all of our jobs and the distance between us, i don't see everyone as much as i'd like, but we were actually social this weekend. there was a little pool party at brent/chris/ross's yesterday afternoon (a little chilly since it is october), and at night, we went bowling! i had heard from so many people that we should go bowling, but nobody would plan it, so i finally sent out an email to a bunch of people suggesting that we meet at these lanes in santa monica at 8. surprisingly, a dozen people showed up so we had a nice northwestern get-together. hopefully we can keep on doing these sort of things occasionally in the future to stay in touch.
ok, sundays are my day to get my life in order, so i'd better go and run some errands. please let me know how you all are doing. love you!
