remember the magic

so in june, when we were in six flags, someone suggested that we should all go to disneyland together to celebrate its 50th anniversary. i never really thought it would happen, but lo and behold, nstv actually made it to disneyland! a bunch of northwestern kids flew out here last week, and about a dozen of us spent 14 hours running rampant through the park yesterday.
and even though it's such an odd and manufactured world, it really is the happiest place on earth. we had such a fantastic (fantasmic!) time, letting robert (who knows and loves all things disney) lead the way around the park, and enjoying as many rides and shows as possible. it was such a funny experience, a bunch of 20-somethings reverting to childhood, but without parents around. at one point, i asked amanda, "would it be okay if i had ice cream for dinner?" she replied, "why not?" and everyone chimed in, saying, "our parents aren't here!!"
speaking of food, that's all amanda, kat, and i can think about when we're in amusement parks. after missing out on turkey legs in six flags, we were determined to get our fix yesterday. while some might be revolted by the idea, those saltwater-injected clubs of meat were quite delicious.

later, brad and i wandered around for half an hour searching for frozen lemonade as everyone else got ice cream. but after the tea cup ride, food was the last thing on our minds since we tried to recreate the "ross teacup-of-death" scenario. we tried to spin it as fast as we could, but jake was unwilling to make his hands bleed, and we were soon feeling too sick to even touch the steering wheel.

i had never seen the park at night, and we were in awe as we walked the lit paths and watched the fireworks display. it was quite a glorious day, and it's nice to know that the magic hasn't been lost on us over time. nstv/disney love forever!
