highlights

- i quit one of my jobs yesterday. it was nerve-wracking, since i've never had to quit a job before for a reason besides the end of summer. the most uncomfortable thing is that i still have to face my bosses since i promised to finish the project that i committed to. oh well, at least it'll be all over in a couple weeks.

- all of rachel's furniture and miscellaneous items arrived today. now our apartment is completely furnished, with real homey, not collegey stuff. we now have places to sit! and more than three forks!

- packed in all that stuff were several kiddie videos, which mer and i immediately pounced on and picked "sleeping beauty" to watch. but when we put it in, the vcr spit it back out and i found that the magnetic tape was horribly twisted inside. so like a true jefferson tech nerd, i took it apart to fix it. of course i pulled a klutzy move and dropped it, so i had to open another vhs to figure out how everything went back in. but eventually i made it whole again and it worked! i felt ridiculously proud of myself.

- on that note, my mom once said that i should be an engineer. i remember one day in elementary school, some counselor came in to talk to us about different career paths. she said, "for instance, if you like taking stuff apart, you might go into engineering." i looked from her to my lap, where i had just secretly dismantled my compass out of boredom. spooky. maybe i'm going into the wrong career field.

- after having to cook for myself for three weeks, i've realized that i really don't know too many dishes. if any of you have any old favorite recipes, please pass them my way!
