we are the music makers, and we are the dreamers of dreams.
i have some insane dreams when i'm in a deep sleep, and last night was no exception. i had that kind of dream where a bunch of people you know comes together even though they've never met in real life, and we went all over the country, from LA to VA to minnesota. that part doesn't sound too crazy, but the dream also involved me being kidnapped, working as a servant in my kidnappers' home, and befriending their children as i planned my escape.
but that isn't even the most memorable dream i've had. here are some of my strangest dreams (not including the half-hallucinations i used to have when i was sick as a kid)...
- i once slayed a purple dragon with a giraffe head that looked like geoffrey from toys 'r us.
- of course there were a lot of anxiety dreams, often involving me being thrown into a dance performance and having to make up steps on the spot, but the stupidest anxiety dream i've ever had was that i was unprepared on the first day of school. i hadn't done the summer reading, and i didn't even have pen and paper, because i was so distracted by my BELLY-BUTTON RING (i have never even considered having one in real life).
- sometimes in dreams i can hover or float when i jump, and this came in handy when i was stuck in a high-ceilinged room with steve martin (this was even before "shopgirl" came out and i knew about his creepy younger-woman tendencies).
- i've had a lot of nightmares where i'm running away from someone/something, but the scariest one i've ever had was when gene wilder was chasing me through an m.c. escher kind of house. if you've seen him as willy wonka, you know that man can be pretty frightening.
- three (or is it two?) words: PIRATE DANCE-FIGHTING. i think this was an homage to "the goonies," but in my dream, my friends and i were battling pirates with dance moves. i distinctly remember holding a mace as i swayed and bobbed.
this is why sleeping is sometimes better than being awake.
