going to the chapel of love
JAMIE IS MARRIED. ohmygoodnessohmygoodness. of course it was beautiful and perfect, just like jamie and scott :)
i drove up to san jose on saturday morning, and met up with a bunch of jefferson girls, many of whom i hadn't seen since we graduated from high school. so that was lovely, but there wasn't much time to catch up since we had to get ready for the ceremony!

the one word that i would use to describe the ceremony is "earnest." everything jamie and scott promised to each other was so sincere that everyone felt it, even the stone-cold cynic in me. when the priest asked, "do you, scott, take jamie..." and scott immediately replied, "ABSOLUTELY. forever and ever and ever," something moved inside my "hollow tin chest" and i will admit that tears were threatening to break loose. i did manage to behave myself, only laughing once at a bombastic/inappropriately loud volume (at which point meg elbowed me). i do have to share that the most ironic moment of the ceremony was the one time when jamie stumbled over her vows, saying that she would "communiclate clearly." ha! anyway, it was all so sweet and fitting to jamie and scott's relationship.

the reception was in the woods at saratoga springs, so it was casual and gorgeous at the same time. we ate barbecue and wedding pie, and danced the night away with a great dj. in true "father of the bride" style, jamie wore decorated sneakers with her wedding dress so that she wouldn't be slowed down by painful shoes.

what else can i say about the wedding? it really was just beautiful and uplifting. even though i was rather apprehensive going to the first of my friends' weddings, i was so glad that i went and got to share in their happiness. listen to me, i sound so sappy. but fortunately (or unfortunately, however you want to see it), i went back to my embittered self after i drove home yesterday and a fire on I-5 resulted in a detour that added two and a half hours and 100 miles to my trip. now i'm back at work and wondering when i'll do another wedding weekend. who'll be next?

*please forgive me for the quality of the pictures, the settings on my camera were all wacky and i never had time to set them correctly. for more photos, click here.*
