went to hear handel's messiah for the first time, and at st. paul's, no less. was quite good, made me miss choir singing a lot.
on thursday, went to stand outside the premiere of "return of the king" with kate. let me tell you, i have never been surrounded by so many crazies in my life. of course i'll admit that we are somewhat insane for standing out there for 5 hours, but we seriously were the most normal people there. at least we weren't 40 year-old women dressed up as elves or hobbits, or scary guys with stiff hairsprayed combovers who go to premieres like its their job. there were these two women whose husbands drove them from kent so they could stand behind us on a stool in their cloaks, with their posters of orlando bloom surrounded by lights, laughing and screaming incessantly for the whole afternoon, and freaking out whenever a tv camera was pointed our way. kate and i wanted to kill ourselves, especially once people started arriving and we got smothered. and to make things even worse, my camera ran out of battery just as ian mckellan walked by. so i only have pics of sean astin and andy serkis. but i did see the other hobbits (besides elijah wood), ian mckellan, liv tyler (got out of her car right by us) and viggo mortensen (sort of). sadly, NO ORLANDO BLOOM. damn him for filming a movie right now. oh well, i guess meeting him at a premiere would be really sad. i'll wait for the time when we're destined to meet. oh wow, the psycho fans are really getting to me. if i ever start speaking in elvish or recognizing producers, makeup designers, or composers at premieres, please slap me. needless to say, that was probably my first and last premiere. standing in a suffocating crowd for hours on end just to see some celebrities (who are really just normal people) is not my idea of a fantastic time. though i should expect it to be nuts at something like "lord of the rings." so that was that adventure.
friday, finally went to see a ballet, which was "cinderella." really wanted to see the royal ballet's production, but since that doesn't open until dec. 23rd, i had to settle for the english national ballet. but it was very good, and since i'd never seen that ballet before, it was nice to see something new.
saturday, ran errands. today, went to the market and hung out with the kunsts. starting to freak out because there's only one week left!!!
