those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer

- nicole's wedding in wisconsin: a great opportunity to see family and old friends. the hotel in kohler was sweet, the ceremony was beautiful, and mv and i managed not to embarrass ourselves too horribly when we sang. most of the reception was spent dancing with the flower girls, who were adorable and kind of more entertaining than the people my age. all in all, a fun wedding. but if there's one thing that i learned from the weekend, it's this: DO NOT let family/family-friends set you up with guys. it's just doomed.

- memorial day: the best way to kick off the summer. becky and mo had a barbecue in their backyard, and we filled the afternoon with wholesome activities, such as egg relays, water balloon tosses, knockout, and pictionary. jake kept on saying it was the best memorial day ever. my sentiments exactly.

- the job: with reshoots being over, work is pretty dead right now. but i don't mind, i'm taking advantage of all my down time, and it's really nice to work sort of normal hours. i got to watch the movie this week, and though i don't know much about tenacious d, i thought it was good. definitely NOT a movie for my parents though. a smidge too vulgar. my bosses thought i would be horribly offended by it, but they were surprised to hear me laughing as i watched it by myself on the avid. i did enjoy it, and i found that jack black and kyle gass are amazing musical performers. the movie's a bit silly and strange (and crude) at times, but it's cool to work on a project that doesn't take itself too seriously.

- a prairie home companion: on friday we went to the hollywood bowl, to see "a prairie home companion." not the movie, the radio show, which is apparently really famous but i'd never heard of it. the show was being recorded for broadcast, and some of the stars of the movie (meryl streep, john c. reilly, virginia madsen) were there to sing and act in the skits. it was very sweet and wholesome entertainment, and an absolutely gorgeous night. great for my first experience at the hollywood bowl.

- blowout: our apartment had a party last night to celebrate the end of the school year for a lot of the TFA people, and to have one last party at our apartment (we'll probably be moving in august once our lease is up). the invite list was 90 PEOPLE, all due to rachel and meredith, considering that i only know about 10 people in LA. thankfully, not all of those people showed up, but i'd guess that about 50 people cycled through our apartment last night. it was fun, but those teachers can get pretty rowdy. sometimes it's a little frightening to think that they're in charge of children's educations, especially when they're playing flip-cup.

today i hardly did anything, which was fine with me. went to ballet, hung out at the foggy beach for a couple hours, got my oil changed, and watched tv. it looks like this summer is getting off to a wonderful start!

TV,

what is the name of the Jack Black movie you are working on? Mimi has been telling people it's the Nacho Libre one haha, but I don't think that is right b/c that one is coming out really soon. or is that the one you're doing?

it's "Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny." yeah, "Nacho Libre" is probably already finished.

at least mimi isn't doing what my mom is doing, which is telling people that tenacious d is a sequel to "School of Rock." definitely not. no children will be allowed to see this movie.
