rocky mountain high
i'm back, from the fastest trip ever. on saturday night, i left straight from work and flew out of LAX to denver. thankfully, no mishaps during travel, even though it was all very rushed. the only problem was that i was relying on mv for her toiletries, and i forgot that she had lasik surgery like two years ago, so i had to buy contact solution at a gas station and use shot glasses to clean my lenses.
anyway, mv conducts a church choir, so yesterday we spent the whole morning at church (let's not get into the fact that neither of us is christian and it was only the third service i've ever been to in my life). it was nice, i got to hear mv sing (people were tearing up at her solo), and i got to hold a baby chick! the rest of the day was spent brunching (in what seemed like the three bears' cottage), shopping, baking, playing piano, eating sushi, and vegging in front of the tv. i got to do exactly what i wanted to do on my one day off. and what a gorgeous day it was! one of the best moments was when we driving back into boulder after church with the windows down, and right in front of us, under the perfectly blue sky, were the flatirons, with the snow-capped rockies right behind them. beautiful. i couldn't have asked for a better day.
it took a lot of willpower to drag myself out of bed for my 6am flight this morning, but i'm back in LA now and back at work. thankfully, things are slowing down here and we're starting to wrap, so maybe another day off isn't too far in the future!
