"that is disgustingly cute"

you'll never guess what i did yesterday! i finally had a day off, so brent and i decided to go ROLLERSKATING! we went to this place in glendale, which was so fantastically old-school. it was perfect, complete with kiddie birthday parties, bad food, skating games, and cheesy music (at one point, we were the only ones singing along with all4one's "i swear").
now, i haven't been rollerskating since i was about 6, and i wasn't even good then, which explains why i was SO VERY BAD yesterday. there's something about the way i stand, or where i place my weight, but i just can't get into the stride (which is why i also suck at ice-skating). anyway, i was horrible and awkward, which was fine because i knew i would be. fortunately, brent had more practice as a kid, so he was actually good and was able to steady me, and i only ended up falling twice (though those two times were pretty spectacular).
the funniest thing was that when i took off my "culver city skate rink" jacket ($5 at target in virginia!), we were both wearing yellow shirts. that, combined with the fact that we had to hold hands so i wouldn't crash into the children and kill them, made quite a sickening picture :) you kind of want to throw up right now, don't you? but it was amazingly fun and i had such a good time. i'm so glad that i'm taking advantage of those rare days-off to experience new things around LA.
