- things are finally getting set up at work. now i have an access card so i can actually enter the building. and i have a parking pass (though i have to pay $80 a month so that i can work!). and i have email. but the internet thing is still weird and i can't get past the firewall. and i'm trying to make reservations through the online company website, but it won't work. how am i supposed to go to tampa next week and shoot if i can't get tickets?? argh. that place is so disorganized and frustrating. but at least without internet, i get a lot of work done.
- today i was driving home and i realized how much i love virginia. one of the things i'll miss the most about it (when i'm in stinky old LA) is driving through the woods of great falls. the trees are really tall and make a canopy over the road, so it's shady but with some sunshine filtering through. and the roads are so curvy and hilly that you feel like you're on a rollercoaster (one time we took our cousins from california and texas on springvale road for a thrill ride). i can't stand driving in cities or in high traffic, especially since i can't blast the radio and sing along without feeling self-conscious. but that's just one of the things i love about home. i think my goal in my career is to be well-known enough so that i can live and work from wherever i want and people will come to me. maybe editors can do that.
