sometimes i wish this summer were more like a beach boys song, but it's all right.

- i started work this week, but it's been an easy week since i've worked from home for the past three days (i can't get into the building until i get my security badge). the video stuff is rawther dull, but hey, i'm getting paid well, and i get to travel to exotic places, such as waltham, massachusetts, and garden city, new hampshire!
- i'm getting good use out of my sister's sewing machine, so making clothes and bags will be the craft project of the summer (last year was making jewelry and refinishing furniture). my sister wants me to pick up knitting again, but i've never been patient enough for that. the sewing machine is so much faster, and i already made a very useful bookbag and a shirt. now i'm taking orders from people :)
- hung out with the pseudo-cousins last night, meaning all the vietnamese kids of my parents' college friends. i love how everything still feels comfortable even when we haven't seen each other for months. i guess that's because we grew up together and we've known each other so long. our parents think it's unfortunate that we won't date within the group, but that would just be weird because it would be like dating one of your relatives. my mom still likes to the tell the story of when i was looking for a prom date, because she suggested our friend huan (who took baths with my sister when they were like four), and i replied, "gross! that would be like taking my brother!" but i do love them all, and i'm probably closer to them than i am to my real relatives.

that's about it. it's been a pretty lazy week, which is what summer should be.
