freaks and geeks

- the week in colorado went by pretty quickly. we hung around bachelor gulch, visited vail and aspen (where we saw two baby bears in the downtown plaza!), and went whitewater rafting. all really fun and relaxing.

- when my parents went home, i went to stay with mv in boulder for a couple days, and i got to visit her school! i sang with all three of her choirs, which was fun, since i haven't sung in years. but i will say this: i do not miss highschoolers. high school was awesome, but teenagers get on my nerves now. man, i seem like a crotchety old woman.

- mv and adam acquired DDR. yes, that's right. the ultimate in asian stereotypes. but thankfully the game we got didn't just have japanese songs, so there were plenty of 80s tunes to dance to ("bizarre love triangle," "the reflex," "go west"). everything in adam's house was shaking as we stomped and hopped around.

- the time we spent playing DDR paled in comparison to the hours that we spent as the "champions of norrath." oh my god, that game is only a small step down from "dungeons and dragons" on the geekiness scale. i never liked action role-playing games before, but that one is so addictive! on monday, we had three free hours before my flight, and i made mv take me to adam's so we could play. mv and adam would roll their eyes at each other as i would (virtually) run around picking up items at random and checking my supplies, but they were the ones who created this monster. on the other hand, they really enjoyed the fact that i would make my own sound effects as i played.

- nstv people are coming this weekend! the summer may be over, but here, it's never too late to go to the beach and disneyland :)
