i'm very glad that i hung out with chippy and kimmy (aka the pseudo-cousins) last night instead of going to my dad's high school reunion. we went bowling and watched nstv, which they loved and kept on asking if there was more stuff that they could watch. and they couldn't get enough of nafis. anyway, if i went to the reunion, i would've had to videotape everything and endure a lot of awkwardness, especially since part of the reunion's purpose was what my sister calls a "vietnamese meat market." all the kids are put together so that nice vietnamese boys can meet nice vietnamese girls while their parents look on and speculate. even my mom bought into all of it. here's what she said to me the week before the event...

my mom: "are you sure that you don't want to go?"
me: "yes."
her: "because there'll be lots of nice kids there. and i want you to meet louis, he goes to JOHNS HOPKINS..."

and what she said to me this morning....

my mom: "you should've come last night! all of the boys had a great time, because there were a lot of pretty girls there."
me: "that's nice. but i still had more fun with my friends."
her: "and louis was dancing with lots of girls, you know, the boy who goes to JOHNS HOPKINS..."

there's enough weirdness in dating already, we don't need to add parents' pressure to that
