i'm home, which means i survived the quarter. it's funny, i thought the quarter would be so easy and it definitely wasn't. here's a recap:
- the musical class was absolutely horrible lecture-wise, but watching a different musical every week was kick-ass. and actually getting to sit with other people in a film class made me feel not so loserish. we were most definitely the loud people that everyone else wanted to kill.
- french=bleah. do i still want to minor in it?
- sculpture was so great, though it was frustrating at times. i'll try to take another art class because it's so soothing most of the time.
- film production was hellish, but we finally finished our project and i was satisfied with it for the most part, once the stupid shoot was over. and i think i finally figured out that i want to be an editor! it's scary, actually discovering what you want to do with your life.
- i discovered that film majors are very supportive of each other, which was nice to know. if you do a favor for someone, they'll do one for you, and there's always someone to help you if you have a problem. i guess these contacts will really benefit me in the future.
- danceworks taught me many things this year... 1. dancers are not the nicest people in the world. 2. leotards and skirts without tights is not a comfortable combination, especially when you're trying not to flash the audience. in addition, the low-cut leotards (unzipped!) made us even more skanky. 3. even if you're not having a great time during the run, you'll always miss the performance afterwards.
- not living with meghan is weird, and i had to deal with some horrific sketchiness at the beginning of the year. but things are better now, and sarah beth and i sit around to watch a lot of tv and complain about boys.
- i'm trying to get more involved with alpha chi this year, especially since i've been living in the house and i'll be living there again next year, so i need points. i actually have positions this year, which is laughable.
- our pledge family has two new additions with anna and christina, but we're also losing two members after this quarter. katie is heading to russia to teach english next quarter, and maren is going to be gone for nine months interning at national geographic in nyc and then studying in south africa next fall! our dramatically smaller family is already missing them.
- friends with cars = more fun!
- nstv is doing really well this year, and i think that we're a much more cohesive group than before. the humor is weirder and sometimes we don't get the sketches at all, but it's still so much fun. i refuse to do any more shoots unless it's for nstv.
- brent and the food network. need i say any more?
- junior year means that your friends are much more scattered. if you make the effort to hang out at someone's apartment, it means that your relationship is more than mere acquaintance. you're no longer friends with people because of convenience.
- being so busy this quarter meant that i had fewer trips to the movie theater, no pajama days, and no trips into chicago (not one!). hopefully next quarter, with only three classes and no rehearsals, i can relax more.
speaking of relaxing, we're going to aruba in two days! it's going to be a fantastic week of sun, warmth, and frivolous "beach reads." to all you northwesterners, have a wonderful spring break, and to everyone else, i hope your break was nothing but spectacular.
