i finally figured out what to do for jamie's b-day, so we all went ice-skating last night at the sculpture garden by the mall in dc. let's not go into how man was too good at stalling james and how we waited for over an hour for them. but james was surprised and excited because she had really wanted to go ice-skating (good call on my part, i had decided on that just because suz and i had wanted to go). we acted like tourists on the metro and took pictures, and on the way to the rink, we played "follow the leader" on the mall.
i stink at ice-skating, i don't know why i always want to go. i look like a squatting duck waddling around the rink whenever i step on the ice. and it's amazing how i took lessons for a couple of months and i'm still scared. by the end, i sort of got into the hang of it again, but i still felt awkward. everyone always says, "you're a dancer! you should be good at this!" that is not true. in dancing, my feet are firmly planted on the non-slippery ground and i don't have to balance on thin, wobbly blades. dancing is so much easier than ice-skating. oh well, i guess i'll never be in the olympics.
after ice-skating, we got picked up by james and suzanne's moms ( so we wouldn't have to ride the metro at night with scary weirdos), and while we were waiting, james taught us line-dancing in front of the hirschhorn. a few cars drove by, and it must've been weird to see a bunch of girls dancing around in the middle of the night by a museum. then, everyone headed to jamie's for hot chocolate and s'mores, but i went home for hot cider and bed.
today, i'm packing and running some errands, and i'm going to mrs. haddad's (my ballet teacher) for tea with a few of her other old students. it'll be interesting, i've never had proper tea before. actually, i don't like tea, but it'll be fine. i'd better start getting busy, i'm going back to school tomorrow! i can't believe how quickly break went by...
