i love how meghan and i never run out of things to talk about. we just talked in steak 'n shake until 1:30, and it was such good conversation! my favorite part was when we reminisced about what we were like freshmen year and thought about how we've changed. out of our group of friends, meghan has changed the most (remember when she was conservative?? wow!), and then i would be next.
but talking about it made me realize that even though i hate change, i'm really happy with how i've developed and the person that i've become. i really believe that college makes you the person that you are meant to be, because there are so many opportunities suddenly offered to you. in high school, you're influenced by your parents and by your peers, and the group of friends that you hang out with is somewhat limited, so you might unknowingly build a facade over your real self. but in college, you're free to do whatever you want, hang out with whomever you want, and truly think independently. you're able to break out into... yourself, i guess. that's why i think college or a similar situation is so essential to a person's development. it's less about taking classes and partying, and more about experiencing different things and figuring yourself out.
that is all. i hope i expressed myself well enough so that you all know what i'm talking about (i'm not always good at that). i'm just really appreciating things tonight, and i'm really glad that i'm here :)
