hi, i'm sitting here alone at work, since everyone else is either on vacation or at the office in mclean that we're moving into. it's really weird having to be the receptionist, especially since i'm not the best person to be answering the phone. though amazingly, i've only messed up a few times : ) i did hang up on a woman accidentally because i forgot to put her on hold and i felt soooo bad. anyway, besides answering the phones, i've still been doing random tasks, including packing, packing, more packing, logging out hundreds of tapes on the computer, and unscrewing hooks from the wall. everyone hears about my job and says, "wow, that must be fun!" and i just reply, "yeah, it's not." but at least i'm getting paid! they said that i've been doing too much work, so they paid me A LOT for last week, much more than minimum wage, which is usually the standard salary for interns. and this week i'm only working monday and friday, which gives me three glorious days to enjoy my friends and family that are coming into town on christmas!
our party yesterday was so great, i can't believe that all of my friends made it, we're never all together at the same time. and i finally saw tina! yaaayyy! she's still as stylish and skinny as ever, except with looong hair. anyway, at the party, everyone was really happy and having a lot of fun, even my mom, though she fell down the stairs an hour before the party. her foot was so blue and swollen, but she insisted on getting things done and waiting until after the party to go to the hospital. it was so weird seeing my mom immobilized, since she's usually running around like crazy. but her foot didn't stop her from going up and down the stairs, which provided mv and me with some entertainment. at one point, my dad carried my mom down the stairs, which is really cute, but bad since he has a bad knee. and then, my mom was actually crawling up the stairs, talking on her cell phone at the same time, and my sis and i were running around saying, "where's the camera? where's the camera?" because it was so funny-looking. after the party, my dad took her to the emergency room, and they told her it's a sprain, which isn't too bad, but will be annoying since this week will be a little insane with all the relatives coming in.
so besides my mom's foot, the party was wonderful, i got to spend some quality time with my friends, and mv's friends were talking about how awesome it is that we still keep in touch after high school. of course, they were the last people to leave, but i managed to clean up for my mom and get to bed around 1 since i have work today. but in a few hours, i'll be done and i can fully enjoy the holiday season!
