ok, i'm back from a wonderful spring break, and this is ridiculous. a couple days ago, i was in sandals and tank tops, and as soon as i get back to chicago, it snows! agh, so i'm a little depressed to be back at school, but there is much to tell about my spring break.
on friday morning, i woke up at 7:47, and i was supposed to get my shuttle at 8. amid much cursing and hyperventilating, i got ready in three minutes and ran to the shuttle stop. after waiting for half an hour, i called the shuttle company to find out that they had made my reservation for the next day (argh!). but i eventually got a shuttle and got to the airport. now the flight... near the end of it, we ran into some turbulence and all of a sudden, we dropped about 20 feet really quickly. we all flew out of our seats (luckily, we were all strapped in), and i saw things and people hovering in the air like on the ride "tower of terror." of course, there was a lot of screaming. it was really scary when it happened, but i found myself laughing when it was over, along with a lot of other people. there was nothing else to do but laugh about it. so that was my airplane drama.
that weekend was filled with good food, family, and tv. i actually watched the oscars this year in an effort to learn more about my possible career. then my sister and i were off to cancun!
cancun was warm, sunny and relaxing, especially since we didn't stay in one of the super-spring-break-y hotels. we lay on the beach, read, and swam in the clear, blue water : ) (by the way, you all should read pride and prejudice and a tree grows in brooklyn) the only not-so-pleasant parts were when creepy mexican guys would hit on us. one sweaty guy kissed my hand, and one waiter poked me in the side and stroked my hand. in that instance, i was offended on two levels. 1) he tickled me and fondled my hand, and 2) while he was holding my hand, he said, "oh, you're so pale and white!" after i had tanned and burned in some places for four days. but not all of the guys were so bad. we befriended this waiter from our hotel, bernardo, who would bring us stuff on the beach and check up on us a lot. and all in all, the trip was really fun and restful.
oh, when we got back home, i was going to get my hair trimmed, but i ended up just chopping it all off. i feel like less of a girl now, but i was getting bored with my hair, and now it's really easy to take care of. it looks like selma blair's new haircut. i spent the rest of my vacation eating, sleeping, watching tv, and hanging out with mv and picabo. now i'm back here, moping around and waiting for class tomorrow. it was a good spring break, but all too short...
